Douglas Ernest Maddams My father, was born 7/8/1929 and lived in Much Hadham all his life. He married Barbara Ellen Crome in 1951. He died 28/1/1997. As well as having me, they had two other children Stephen and Leslie.

Ernest Charles Maddams My grandfather was born in 1894, married Ethel Baker in 1927 and he died in 1951.

William Joseph Maddams. My great grandfather was born in Welwyn in 1864. He married Louisa Wick from Hormead in 1886. And Died in Much Hadham in 1941. He had three other children, Bert, Dorothy May, and Jess Rosina.

Charles Maddams My G,G grandfather was born at Essendon in 1821. He married Maria Hagger/King in 1845 and died at Aspenden in 1905.

He was a Police man and served at Walken in 1851 Welwyn in 1861, Cottered in 1871 and Aspenden in 1881.

They had 9 children, including Amelia Carloline, Ellen Elizabeth Maddams, Rosina Charlotte, Eliza Maria Maddams and George Alfred Maddams, who was born in 1847. He became a borough councillor at Bromley by Bow and ‘Maddams street’ in London is named after him.

Joseph Madams was born in Essendon in 1787, and died in 1870. He was married twice. First to Sarah Simpson, and then to Elizabeth Grant in 1820. (which is my line). Joseph and Elizabeth had three other children, George, Joseph and James.

William Madams my 4x g grandfather was born in 1741, and Married Hannah Peck at Little Munden on 1778, and died at Essendon in 1819 (I think!).

Joseph Madams was born in 1704 at Flitwick in Bedfordshire, and Married Sarah Curtis from Shenley in 1728. He died in 1769. As well as William he had 6 other children, Henry, John, Anne, Sarah, Mary, and Richard.
